Our luxury accommodation is set in 200 acres of peaceful family farmland, overlooking picturesque Lake Mapourika, only 5 minutes from the Franz Josef village centre.

Our new unique accommodation opened on the 12 December 2005. Franz Josef Glacier Country Retreat building's design was inspired by a historical West Coast homestead and offers 12 rooms of luxury accommodation facilities and home cooked breakfast.

By staying with us you get to experience the beauty 'Glacier Country' offers, as well as to share the local history and knowledge of this special place, where our pioneer family has resided for over 100 years.

Franz Josef glacier Country Retreat offers 12 luxury rooms all with magnificent views of the surrounding snow capped mountains or lake. Each room has been individually decorated, named and themed after a local pioneer family, with photos and stories of these families displayed in the rooms.

Franz Josef Glacier Country Retreat offers exceptional accommodation while retaining the intimate atmosphere of a private residence. You have the option of meeting and mingling with the other guests in the spacious lounge with large open fire, or retreating to your private room.
